FAST, City of Fairfield Transit needed a clearer way for riders to find routes, see live arrivals, check service alerts, and plan trips — without bouncing between disconnected tools. DEV FL built a custom, configurable WordPress plugin that brings the entire rider experience into one interface: transit staff manage routes, stops, and alerts from the WordPress backend, while riders explore an interactive Mapbox map, track real-time bus locations and arrival predictions from the Swiftly API, and plan public-transit trips with Google Maps Platform address autocomplete.
The Impact: Riders get real-time arrivals instead of guessing bus schedules, and the agency updates routes without touching a developer every time something changes.
Features:
- Interactive Mapbox map for exploring routes and stops
- Real-time bus locations and arrival predictions from the Swiftly API
- Service alerts affecting specific routes and stops
- Search by route or stop code
- Trip planning with Google Maps Platform address autocomplete
- Fully configurable from WordPress — transit staff update routes and alerts without a developer
